Gallery: special games

One surface set inside another, to scale: the host drawn as it is alone, the game's surface set inside it with its teams and score. Each game is a key of EVENTS, with its day, its venue and its sources. The pictures share one stylesheet, which is left out of each one's SVG here; drawKyogijo puts it in every drawing unless style: "none" says not to.

A rink in a ballpark#

The NHL's rink over a ballpark's infield. A rink reaches over foul ground, which a ballpark's outline (the fair ground) does not hold, so each says how much of it lies beyond.

2009 NHL Winter Classic

Northern Owls 3, Lakeshore Anchors 2, FinalFinal. Northern Owls 3, Lakeshore Anchors 2. Northern Owls won. Drawn as: an ice hockey rink, 200 by 85 feet with rounded corners, with its red and blue lines, face-off circles, creases and goal nets. 2009 NHL Winter Classic, January 1, 2009. Where it stands follows the sources: the rink ran from first base to third, 200 by 85 feet, and its edge toward center field was 112 feet from home plate and 288 feet from the 400-foot center-field wall, so that its middle was 69.5 feet out, within 9 feet of the pitching mound, where the man who built it says center ice was. Part of the rink, 30 percent of its area, lies outside the outline of Wrigley Field. A ballpark's outline is the fair ground inside the fence, so a surface over the infield reaches into foul ground. The markings are those of the 2008–09 season.NORTHERNOWLSLAKESHOREANCHORSNOW3LSA2–Final

No source gives exactly where it stands, so it is placed by convention: its middle on the middle of the infield, where the line from first base to third crosses the line from home plate to second, and its length across the field from first base to third. Part of the rink, 36 percent of its area, lies outside the outline of Fenway Park. A ballpark's outline is the fair ground inside the fence, so a surface over the infield reaches into foul ground. A rink turned 30 degrees on the infield of Fenway Park

NHL hockey rink in Fenway ParkDrawn as: an ice hockey rink, 200 by 85 feet with rounded corners, with its red and blue lines, face-off circles, creases and goal nets. Part of the rink, 31 percent of its area, lies outside the outline of Fenway Park. A ballpark's outline is the fair ground inside the fence, so a surface over the infield reaches into foul ground.
